Ok.. well after a full cuff and pattern repeat, I realised that I was using the wrong size needles and the socks were HUMUNGOUS!
So froggity frog they went. But I still needed a small, relatively easy sock pattern that would work on the 2.5mm needles I did have.
I completely forgot about the Leyburn Sock pattern that I’ve been dying to make ever since I made a pair of fingerless mitts using the same stitch pattern. Even better? They’re toe up! They’re written with a short row heel, but plenty of people have done alterations making it a gusset & flap heel. So I’ll be doing that too.
I’m using a lovely sock yarn by Jolly Jumbuck, that I got from someone’s destash. It is the same colourway that Jolly Jumbuck herself gave me in a wool/silk blend as part of a swap last year. I thougth the silk blend was too nice to stick on my feet, so was thrilled when the wool/nylon version came up. The silk blend version is headed for a cowl.
I’m so far just past the ball of my foot, and it’s a great little knit and they fit wonderfully!
